Arlington Conservation Commission continues Reed Street wetland hearing, issues two permits. The commission voted unanimously at its July 23 remote meeting to continue a proposal to build a single-family home on the wetland-constrained lot at zero Reed Street to August 6, after commissioners said the application lacked a stamped wetland survey and the site plan was based on a GIS desktop approximation. Commissioner Susan Chapnick warned applicant David Swanson of Kinvara Capital that Arlington's local wetland bylaw — which designates a 100-foot no-development jurisdictional area stricter than state law — makes the lot "a really hard time fitting anything in there compliant with our local regulations." Two abutters, including Patricia Alicandro of 6 Reed Street, cited decades of flooding and said the neighborhood plans to oppose the project.

The commission also unanimously approved an order of conditions for 91 Sunnyside Avenue after engineer Maureen Harold of North Environmental Services revised a stormwater infiltration design found at the prior meeting to sit within the water table, and issued a permit for a commercial renovation at 26 Dudley Street after LEC Environmental Consultants addressed multiple rounds of commission comments on planting schedules and snow storage.
