Cemetery Commission Denies Paras Family Disinterment Request

Cemetery Commission denies disinterment request over plot shortage.

Cemetery Commission · Meeting of September 9, 2026

ARLINGTON — Cemetery Commission denies disinterment request over plot shortage. Chair Michele Hassler and members William McCarthy and Brian L. Hasbrouck, meeting with Secretary Lisa Camelio, Department of Public Works Director Mike Rademacher, and Cemetery Supervisor Jason Jones, determined that the Paras family's request to relocate a family member within the cemetery could not be accommodated due to insufficient plot availability.

Camelio will notify the family in writing. The Commission also discussed reusing cemetery gates, completed mapping for the HH field, and discussed a spring timeline for columbarium work pending contractor finalization. An inventory of cemetery maps is planned to provide better accounting of available graves.
