Arlington's Open Space Committee reviewed progress on multiple park and recreation projects at its September 24 meeting. Committee members Elisabeth Carr-Jones, Wendy Richter, Ann LeRoyer, David White, and Lisa Fredman attended. Several projects faced obstacles: the Menotomy Rocks playground equipment remained on hold, while the Cooke's Hollow Community Preservation Act project did not receive state funding this year and was deferred to the next funding round.
A 40B comprehensive permit at Thorndike Place awaited a Department of Environmental Protection ruling due November 16. The committee discussed potential 2027 warrant articles on Arlington Heights rezoning and affordable housing overlay, emphasizing the need to preserve open space in development planning.
