Arlington Conservation Commission Approves Loading Dock Permit, Updates Turf Field Order

ARLINGTON — November 20, 2025 — Arlington Conservation Commission closes loading dock permit and tightens Arlington Catholic turf field enforcement order. The commission voted 6-0 Thursday to approve an order of conditions for loading dock repairs at 40 Pacella Park Drive along Millbrook, requiring boulder installation to protect a native planting area, extension of a MassDOT-standard native seed mix over an adjacent enforcement order restoration area, and three years of monitoring. In a separate 6-0 vote, the panel updated its enforcement order for the ongoing artificial turf replacement at Arlington Catholic after Conservation Agent David Morgan and commission member Susan Chapnick observed loose crumb rubber infill scattering from flatbed trucks during the morning's site visit; new conditions require a silt sock at the nearest storm drain, daily street sweeping during removal work, and advance notice before new infill is installed. The commission also discussed pursuing a town meeting warrant article to address persistent fishing line entanglement at town ponds after outreach to Select Board members Jim Finley and Diane Mahon failed to produce a formal agenda slot for the issue.
