Arlington Library Closes July 4; Police Phone Scam Still Circulating

Arlington residents wrapping up June face a quiet but notable end to the week: the public library will be closed this Saturday for Independence Day, and a phone scam mimicking Arlington Police department numbers continues to circulate.

All Arlington Public Library locations will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in observance of Independence Day. Residents planning to visit a branch over the long weekend should plan accordingly and use the library's digital services — including Libby, OverDrive, and Hoopla — for borrowing needs in the interim.

COMING UP

Arlington Independence Day Concert and Picnic is on the calendar for Friday, July 4 — per Arlington Patch's event listings, it is among the featured community events this weekend.

The Arlington School Committee holds a Special Meeting/Retreat on Saturday, July 11, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Arlington Public Schools District Office.

All Arlington Public Schools central offices will be closed Thursday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. Teachers return August 31 and September 1 for the first days of the new school year.
