Arlington Select Board Unanimously Approves Beer License for World Cup Watch Party at Town Hall

ARLINGTON — June 16, 2026 — Arlington approves second World Cup watch party site at Town Hall in emergency morning vote. The Select Board convened a special 8:30 a.m. session Tuesday and voted 5-0 to grant a one-day beer and wine license at Robbins Memorial Town Hall for a June 19 FIFA World Cup watch party, adding a second venue to a previously permitted event at Reservoir Beach. Recreation and Community Services Director Natasha Whedon and Deputy Town Manager Christine Bongiorno presented the plan, which includes a partnership with Waltham's Mighty Squirrel brewery under a revenue-sharing agreement, a shuttle loop from Russell Common Lot to both venues, and Arlington police and fire coverage with an EMT on site. Member Steve Helmuth praised the revenue-sharing deal as "only fair" given the costs of running a public event safely. Both sites will feature life-size cutouts of U.S. national team defender Miles Robinson, an Arlington native, along with a video message Robinson's team provided to the town.
