Board Postpones Cannabis, Liquor License Decisions

Arlington Select Board delays votes on liquor and cannabis licenses tangled in a court case. Three applicants — Arlington Center Fine Wines, Peter Pan Superette and Ruby Wine and Spirits — are competing for two available package store licenses, with attorney Sydney Prokos arguing state law bars owner Nilesh Patel from holding a second license alongside his existing BB Liquors. Separately, Bud's Goods and Provisions Corp., led by CEO Alex Mazin, and Debilitating Medical Condition Treatment Centers Inc., led by CEO Jared Glantzberger, sparred over a host community agreement for the former Apothca dispensary at 1386 Massachusetts Avenue, a site tied to an active Superior Court receivership.
"You're not coming in here on equal footing," member Stephen DeCourcey told DMC. Receiver's counsel Andrew Hellman said only Bud's Goods holds site control. The board voted 5-0 on all matters, postponing final decisions to October 5, while separately approving a combined sewer overflow comment letter to the MWRA and authorizing renewal talks with dispensary Escar.
