Superintendent Highlights Progress At New Arlington High School

DATELINE — ARLINGTON — Arlington Public Schools' superintendent posted an update this week spotlighting progress at the new Arlington High School building, one of several district announcements to surface as the town's library closed for a single day of staff training and Arlington police previewed a fall meet-and-greet with residents.

SCHOOLS

Arlington Public Schools' superintendent published an update this week centered on the new Arlington High School building, according to the district website. The post appeared in the district's recent news listing as students and staff prepare for the coming school year.

The district also announced a rollout of reusable dishware and serviceware in APS cafeterias, part of a broader effort to cut down on single-use plastics across schools, according to the district website.

APS set Aug. 17 and 18 for new-educator orientation and Aug. 19 for a new-educator curriculum day, according to the district calendar. The calendar also lists an Aug. 19 Cartwheel webinar on childhood anxiety and school avoidance, running virtually from 7 to 8 p.m.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Arlington Public Library closed all locations and its Passport Acceptance Facility on Friday, Aug. 7, for a Staff Development Day, a closure the town's News Flash also covered earlier this week.
