Arlington Conservation Commission Approves Brook Wall Repair With Environmental Conditions

ARLINGTON — May 7, 2026 — Arlington Conservation Commission approves fieldstone wall repair above Herbert Meyer Brook with protective conditions. The commission voted unanimously May 7 to issue a negative determination of applicability for a Department of Public Works project to repair a crumbling retaining wall near 459 Mystic Street, finding that jurisdiction exists under the Wetlands Protection Act but that no full Notice of Intent is required. Town Engineer Bill Copperthorn and civil engineer Wolfgang Kierstein presented the project, which is expected to take one to two weeks once a contractor is selected. Chair Chuck Terrone conditioned approval on DPW submitting a debris-containment plan for the exposed culvert opening to Conservation Agent David Morgan before work begins, along with requirements for low-flow work timing, a mortar mixing station at least 10 feet from storm drains, and no work on the stream bank.
