Berry Seeks School Committee Seat, Cites Teacher Retention as Top Priority

ARLINGTON — March 17, 2026 — Arlington School Committee candidate Shawn Berry aired a campaign statement on community access TV ahead of the March 28 election. Berry, a Cambridge Public Schools educator and Brackett PTO former president, is running for a one-year seat and named Unit A contract negotiations — covering teachers, librarians, guidance counselors, social workers, special education teachers, and nurses — as her top priority if elected. She also called for a data-driven approach to math curriculum reform, citing her current work on the Arlington Math Pathways Task Force and a prior curriculum review in Cambridge, and said the district must prepare for potentially significant cuts tied to a pending budget override.
