Arlington Redevelopment Board Approves 259 Broadway Project With Parking Conditions

ARLINGTON — March 2, 2026 — Arlington Redevelopment Board approves 14-unit Broadway project, continues larger 28-unit hearing. The board voted 4-0 Monday to approve site plan docket 3881 for 259 Broadway, a five-story mixed-use building with ground-floor retail, conditioned on the applicant providing six parking spaces instead of five and widening the interior drive aisle to 22 feet; if the sixth space proves unattainable, the applicant must return before the board rather than resolve the matter through staff. A separate hearing on docket 3892, a 28-unit all-electric building proposed at 126-128 Broadway on a combined 10,400-square-foot lot, was continued to April 6 after Chair Ken Lauck pushed for 14 parking spaces against the applicant's proposed 10, saying a 50 percent ratio was his floor; other members declined to set that hard number, with member Steve Ravenlock saying "I'd be okay with 12." The board also unanimously appointed Andrew Warford as the Housing Corporation of Arlington's representative on the Arlington Heights Neighborhood Action Plan Implementation Committee, and voted to continue public hearings on four zoning bylaw warrant articles — covering accessory dwelling units, zoning petition costs, multifamily overlay language, and flood plain building height — to March 9 for a final vote.
