Arlington Redevelopment Board Reviews Assisted Living Rezoning, Home Business, and Fence Proposals

ARLINGTON — March 16, 2026 — Arlington Redevelopment Board hears three citizen-petition zoning articles ahead of Annual Town Meeting. At its March 16 meeting, the board reviewed Article 49, which would allow home-based businesses to hire one non-resident employee, sell on-site goods, and post a two-square-foot sign; Articles 50 and 51, which would rezone a four-and-a-half-acre St. Camilla's Church parcel from R1 to R6 and add dimensional standards for a proposed 145-unit assisted living and memory care facility by developer HYM Investments; and Article 54, which would allow fences above three feet in corner sight triangles if they do not exceed 35 percent opacity. Board members were broadly supportive of the assisted living rezoning and divided on the other two articles, with Member Rachel Zanberry arguing the board "should not clutter up the schedule of Town Meeting by sending something that we're not in favor of" regarding the fence proposal. The board voted unanimously to continue its warrant-article hearing to March 23.
